What you get from each health and safety service
Health and safety support covers the risk assessments the law requires for your sites, the records that show they are current, and a competent person to help you meet your duties. In Great Britain, regulation 3 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 requires every employer to make a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to employees and others, and to record the significant findings once you employ five or more people.
Where nobody in your employment is competent, we can act as your competent person through our outsourced health and safety service. The duties stay with you as the employer.

Health and safety assessments an inspector may ask to see
After an inspection or an incident, the questions turn to paperwork.
- ✓A fire risk assessment for each premises, recorded and kept under review, under article 9 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in England and Wales.
- ✓COSHH assessments for work liable to expose employees to substances hazardous to health, under regulation 6 of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.
- ✓An asbestos register and management plan where asbestos is or is liable to be present in non-domestic premises, under regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. HSE's guidance is to assume it is present in a building built or refurbished before 2000.
- ✓A legionella risk assessment of your water systems, with the records HSE expects you to keep.
- ✓A noise assessment where work is liable to expose employees to noise at or above a lower exposure action value, under regulation 5 of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005.
- ✓Manual handling assessments where it is not reasonably practicable to avoid the need for employees to undertake manual handling operations that involve a risk of their being injured, under regulation 4 of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.
