A major UK builders merchant was fined £2.2 million after a worker was fatally crushed by a timber pallet on a conveyor at one of its sawmill sites.
The HSE investigation found inadequate isolation procedures - the conveyor was started by a colleague while the worker was inside its framework removing packaging. HSE prosecution, March 2026.
