Competent COSHH assessments from your own data sheets
COSHH Assessment Training takes delegates through the process of completing COSHH assessments using their own substances and safety data sheets. The course covers the legislation, the assessment process, control measures including PPE, and practical assessment work. Delivered on-site at your premises so examples are drawn from your own chemicals, processes and existing documentation. A closed course allows tailoring to your organisation's activities and procedures.

Three steps to a certified team
Pick the course, confirm a date, and we run the training. Every delegate leaves with a certificate - clear booking, clear agenda, no admin chase.
01
Scoped to your substances
Opus reviews your substance inventory and existing COSHH documentation ahead of delivery. Examples used in training are drawn from your own safety data sheets, so the practical session produces live, usable assessments.

02
One-day delivery on-site
A one-day session covering COSHH Regulations, the assessment process, control measures including PPE, consequences, data safety sheets and their terminology, and a practical exercise completing COSHH assessments.

03
Assessment, certificate and record
Delegates complete a short multiple-choice assessment at the end of the course. Successful delegates receive a Certificate of Attendance which Opus can log into your training matrix on request.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the course be delivered at our site?

Can we use our own safety data sheets?
Yes. The practical element uses your own substances and safety data sheets, so delegates leave with live assessments rather than hypothetical examples.
How long is the course?
One day, delivered on-site at your premises. Group size up to 12 delegates per session.
Is there an assessment?
Yes. Delegates complete a short multiple-choice assessment at the end of the course. Successful delegates receive a Certificate of Attendance.
What certification do delegates receive?
A Certificate of Attendance issued by Opus Safety on successful completion. Refresher recommended every three years or after a process change.
Who needs COSHH assessment training?
Anyone responsible for signing off COSHH assessments - typically managers, supervisors, safety reps and competent persons. Employees who only follow COSHH controls usually need a shorter COSHH awareness briefing rather than this course.
