Phillip Hinton

Phillip Hinton began his career at sea in the Merchant Navy, progressing through officer roles including Third Officer (Safety Officer) and Second Officer (Navigator) aboard tankers, ferries and superyachts.

After moving ashore he entered the construction industry, progressing into supervisory roles before moving into health and safety and achieving competence in the field. He undertook independent work before joining a London-based health and safety consultancy, where he initially worked predominantly with construction clients.

His role there expanded to include clients across manufacturing, warehousing, retail, offices, care homes, builders' merchants, events and local authorities, acting as the designated Competent Person for a number of organisations and providing ongoing health and safety support and advice.

Phillip now works for Opus Safety, supporting a varied client base across the Midlands, Wales and much of England. Every client is different, so he takes a holistic and proportionate approach to find practical, realistic solutions that work for them.
