David Clifton

David Clifton is a Senior Health, Safety and Environmental professional, consultant and trainer with over 20 years' experience and a proven record in developing, implementing and maintaining health, safety and environmental management systems and policies.

His earlier military career involved leading and managing teams in challenging, highly pressurised environments, developing strong leadership, decision-making and communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure and give clear direction in complex situations.

As a senior consultant and principal trainer, David has developed extensive expertise in safe systems of work, risk management, compliance and the development of effective control measures, with a strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and its practical application across industries including construction, engineering, manufacturing and automotive.

As an experienced trainer, he combines technical knowledge with proven instructional technique, focusing on developing understanding, competence and confidence so that individuals and teams can apply health and safety principles within their own working environments.

David believes that establishing rapport is critical when acting as a client's designated Competent Person. Building positive relationships with senior leaders, managers and employees allows him to understand the organisation's needs, challenge where necessary and influence positive change, while maintaining professional independence.
