Ben Hodges

Ben Hodges is a health, safety and environmental professional with over 15 years of leadership and consultancy experience across retail, manufacturing, facilities management and engineering.

He holds a NEBOSH National Diploma and is a member of IOSH and an Associate Member of IEMA, combining regulatory expertise with a practical approach to organisational safety.

At Opus Safety, Ben advises businesses ranging from builders' merchants to manufacturers on UK health and safety compliance, auditing and risk management, acting as their designated Competent Person. His previous leadership roles include Regional Health & Safety Manager for a builders' merchants group and Health & Safety Manager for a group of garden centres, where he oversaw safety for over 6,000 employees across 151 sites nationwide.

Ben has a strong record of continuous safety improvement, including driving a 40% reduction in company RIDDOR rates and achieving ISO 14001 certification. He is experienced in liaising with enforcement agencies and insurance bodies.

His approach is to assess and listen to the client, establish their current level of compliance, and advise on reasonable, business-oriented solutions.
