PEEPs training for responsible persons and evacuation planners
PEEPs training explains what a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan is, who needs one and how to build one that actually works in a real emergency. The course covers the principles of fire safety, the legal background to PEEPs, the detail of a PEEP fire plan and how to establish PEEPs as part of wider evacuation and fire drill arrangements. A PEEP is an individual escape plan for people who need extra assistance to exit a building in an emergency. Temporary PEEPs are sometimes needed for people with short-term conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the course include practical extinguisher use?
No. PEEPs training focuses on evacuation planning. For practical extinguisher handling, delegates should attend the Fire Extinguisher Training course. The two are commonly booked together for staff with both evacuation planning and fire response duties.
How is the course priced?
Pricing depends on group size and your location. Request a tailored quote through the contact form covering delivery, materials and certification in a single figure.
How long is the course?
One day. The course is delivered at your premises with up to twelve delegates per session. The day combines classroom theory with walk-throughs of your own building layout.
How often should PEEPs training be refreshed?
Refresher recommended every two to three years or after significant change of role, equipment, or site. Many organisations review the content whenever the occupant profile, building layout or fire strategy changes.
Is the course delivered on site or at an Opus centre?
At your premises. Running it on site means delegates can work through their own building layout and occupants - the actual refuge points, evacuation lifts, escape routes and procedures they will use in an emergency.
What is a PEEP?
A PEEP is a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan - an individual escape plan for a person who needs extra assistance to exit a building in an emergency. Temporary PEEPs are sometimes needed for people with short-term conditions such as a broken leg or recent surgery, alongside permanent plans for longer-term needs.
Who should attend PEEPs training?
Fire marshals, wardens, facilities managers, HR and the building's responsible persons - anyone involved in planning how to evacuate occupants who need extra assistance. It is also used by school business managers, estate teams and venue operators who regularly host visitors with mobility or sensory needs.
