Competent risk assessors, Highfield-accredited or non-accredited
The Highfield Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment is designed for employees responsible for conducting risk assessments in the workplace. The course covers the principles of risk assessment, the relationship between hazard and risk, and requires delegates to apply what they learn by carrying out a live risk assessment. Delivered on-site at your premises over two days. Available Highfield-accredited or non-accredited, depending on whether the awarding body certificate is required.

Three steps to a certified team
Pick the course, confirm a date, and we run the training. Every delegate leaves with a certificate - clear booking, clear agenda, no admin chase.
01
Scoped to your work
Opus reviews your existing risk assessment process and the activities delegates will assess. The practical element uses your own activities so delegates leave with usable assessments, not hypothetical exercises.

02
Two-day delivery on-site
Two days on-site covering the principles of risk assessment, the relationship between hazard and risk, the hierarchy of controls, organisation of a risk assessment programme, training needs identification and legal compliance. Practical assessment built into the course.

Frequently Asked Questions
Accredited or non-accredited - which should we pick?
Pick the Highfield-accredited route when you need the awarding-body certificate (supplier requirements, tendering, standards). The non-accredited route covers the same content without the Highfield certificate if accreditation is not needed.
Can the course be delivered at our site?
Yes. On-site delivery lets Opus anchor the practical to your activities and existing risk assessments.
How long is the course?
Two days, delivered on-site at your premises. Group size up to 12 delegates per session.
Is there a practical element?
Yes. Delegates carry out a risk assessment on their own activities as part of the course, so they leave with a live assessment rather than a hypothetical exercise.
What certification do delegates receive?
Highfield Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (Principles and Practice) on the accredited route, or an Opus certificate on the non-accredited route.
Who needs risk assessment training?
Staff who are accountable for carrying out risk assessments in the workplace - competent persons, H&S coordinators, team leads and supervisors. Employees who only follow existing risk controls do not usually need this course.
