Confident actions when the alarm sounds
In the event of a fire, the actions of employees are often the difference between safe evacuation and serious harm. Fire Awareness Training gives all staff a foundation-level understanding of how fire spreads, how it is extinguished, and what they need to do when they discover a fire or hear the alarm. Delivered on-site at your premises and anchored to your fire risk assessment, alarm system and evacuation plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the course be delivered at our site?
Yes. On-site delivery lets Opus anchor the content to your fire risk assessment, alarm system and evacuation plan.
How long is the course?
One day, delivered on-site at your premises. Group size up to 12 delegates per session.
Is there a practical element?
Fire Awareness Training is theory-based and does not include hands-on extinguisher use. Staff who need practical extinguisher competence should take Fire Extinguisher Training or Fire Marshal / Warden Training. Your Opus consultant can also combine elements from both courses on request.
What certification do delegates receive?
A Certificate of Attendance issued by Opus Safety on completion. Refresher recommended every three years or after significant changes to the building, alarm system or evacuation plan.
What's the difference between this and Fire Marshal / Warden Training?
Fire Awareness is for all employees - recognising and responding to a fire. Fire Marshal / Warden is for nominated marshals responsible for assessing fire risks, ensuring full and safe evacuation and using extinguishers if safe to do so.
Who needs fire awareness training?
All employees. Basic awareness is appropriate for every member of staff so they understand how to respond on discovering a fire or hearing the alarm. Nominated fire marshals need the separate Fire Marshal / Warden course.
