Frequently Asked Questions
Can Opus handle this alongside wider H&S support?
Yes. Opus is your single point of contact and the certificate is folded into wider H&S consultancy, so the training record sits alongside your site risk assessments and competency matrix.
Do operators legally need this training?
UK law requires anyone mounting abrasive wheels at work to receive appropriate training. PUWER 1998 covers work equipment generally, with specific guidance for abrasive wheels around selection, mounting and safe use.
How long is the course?
Typically one day. The exact duration is confirmed by the delivery partner based on the number of wheel types covered and the delegates' experience. A novice mounting several wheel types will need more time than an experienced operator refreshing on a single machine.
What certification do delegates receive?
A Certificate of Attendance issued by the delivery partner on successful completion. Refresher recommended every two to three years, or sooner after a significant change of role, equipment or site.
Where is the course delivered?
In-house at your site or at a partner centre, confirmed at booking. Abrasive wheel training usually includes a practical element, so the choice often depends on where suitable machines and a controlled workshop environment are available.
